Other learning activities will include basic instruction in oli (Hawaiian chant), along with appropriate use of selected chants for planting, gathering and preparation of herbs and vegetation for healing, health and wellbeing. The evening will begin with a reception offering delicious and healthy dishes, salads and refreshments prepared with traditional ingredients such as taro, sweet potato, coconut, seaweed, mamaki, and `awa.  A special hula kahiko program of chants, dances and ceremony will follow the reception.  It will focus on the formal protocols and practices that have been passed down through more than 7 generations of kumu hula in the Halau’s genealogy.  Reserved tickets must be purchased in advance due to limited seating. Because of the formal nature of the program, the kumu has specified for an audience of adult guests only. Kumu Hula, Kehaulani Kekua.
