Old China Town Herb Walk and Chinese Medicinal Cooking Class offered as part of the Oahu Healing Garden Festival.
The Hawaii Healing Garden Statewide Festival honors the traditional healing arts of Hawaii's multi-cultural heritage. The festival celebrates traditional uses of medicinal plants and cultural practices for improved health & vitality.
As part of the Oahu Healing Garden Festival, a unique two part workshop and cooking class is being offered on Tuesday August 26.
From 9:30 to 12:00 we invite you to join Leon Letoto L.Ac as he shares Chinatown's wealth of natural health and beauty secrets in this enjoyable jaunt through narrow streets, bustling food markets and traditional herb shops. This is a walking workshop that reveals how to find herbs for the prevention and treatment of colds and flu, chronic fatigue and seasonal depression, and to boost immunity and enhance sexual vitality. f At a leisurely pace, we explore the historic district of Old China Town and meet several herbalists and Chinese medicinal herb shops. Although a basic knowledge of chinese herbs will enhance your experience, no background is necessary to learn to better appreciate the health benefits of plants used in Chinese Medicine, and ample time to purchase health ingredients used to enhance health and vitality in Chinese Dietary therapy cooking.
At 12:30, Leon will te ach a hands-on class in Chinese Dietary Therapy Cooking at ICAOM. This delicious cooking lesson goes over herbs used in preparation of dishes that are used to treat the underlying causes of a variety of health symptoms and conditions from a Chinese TCM perspective.
Focusing on local and seasonal food and herbs, Leon explains how the herbs work with the dishes, and students assist in preparing a healthy lunch. Class price includes food.
