Second and third place winners receive gift certificates to restaurants, and other prizes.
All leis become the property of Hawaii Health Guide and will be sold at a silent auction on Nov 3 at the Amy Greenwell Botanical Garden as a fundraiser for the Health & Wellness Scholarship Fund.
The four categories are
1. Edible Lei
2. Medicinal Lei,
3. Aromatherapy Lei
4. Recycled materials Lei
1. Edible Lei must be 100% edible and must include a list of all plant materials used (no paper, no candy please) Extra points for organic!
2. Medicinal Lei must be made from plants that have known medicinal or health benefits. Please list all plants used and their healing properties (cultural uses)
3. Aromatherapy Lei will be judged on the fragrant and aromatic quality . Include a list of the flowers and leaves selected.
4. Recycled Material: Be kind to the "aina. Made of found or recycled objects.
Leis must be received at the Big ISland Healing Garden Festival at the Amy Greenwell Botanical Garden by 10:00 and will be on display until 3:00. Judging will take place at 11:30 and prizes awarded between 12:00-1:00. Silent Auction closes at 3:00, and leis must be picked up by 4:00.

The Hawaii Healing Garden is a celebration of Multi Cultural Medicinal and Nutritional Plants that grow in Hawaii being held across the state. The Healing Garden starts with a festival, speakers, performances, and a health expo at the Keauhous Outrigger on Nov 2 and contiues on Satu Nov 3 with an Arbor Day Celebration, speakers, children's programs and activities and festival booths at Amy Greenwell Botanical Garden.
The Healing Garden Festival at the Keauhou Outrigger is $5.00 to the public. Admission includes access to the Health Expo and all lectures and activities. The Arbor Day Celebration is free at Amy Greenwell and includes activities, food booths, cooking demonstrations, bamboo nose flutes, medicinal plant tours and lectures, and lau' lapa 'au teachers. 0
