Hawaii Health Guide receives $50,000 HTA grant to support Statewide Health & Wellness Festival "The Hawaii Healing Garden and Hawaii Health Guide is pleased to announce an award of $50,000 from the Hawaii Tourism Authority in support of growing interest in Health & Wellness tourism in Hawaii.

Top Prize is $100.
Second and third place winners receive gift certificates to restaurants, and other prizes.

All leis become the property of Hawaii Health Guide and will be sold at a silent auction on August 25 at the Waimea Valley Audubon Ceneter as a fundraiser for the 2007 Health & Wellness Scholarship Fund.

The four categories are
1. Edible Lei
2. Medicinal Lei,
3. Aromatherapy Lei
4. Recycled materials Lei

1. Edible Lei must be 100% edible and must include a list of all plant materials used (no paper, no candy please) Extra points for organic!

2. Medicinal Lei must be made from plants that have known medicinal or health benefits. Please list all plants used and their healing properties (cultural uses)

3. Aromatherapy Lei will be judged on the fragrant and aromatic quality . Include a list of the flowers and leaves selected.

4. Recycled Material: Be kind to the "aina. Made of found or recycled objects.

Leis must be received at the Oahu Healing Garden Festival at the Waimea Valley Pikake Pavilion by 10:00 and will be on display until 3:00. Judging will take place at 11:30 and prizes awarded between 12:00-1:00. Silent Auction closes at 3:00, and leis must be picked up by 4:00.

The Hawaii Healing Garden is a celebration of Multi Cultural Medicinal and Nutritional Plants that grow in Hawaii being held across the state. The Healing Garden starts with a festival, speakers, performances, children's programs and activities and a health expo on August 25 .

The Healing Garden Festival at Waimea Valley is $5.00 to the public. Kids under 13 are free. Admission includes access to the Health Expo and all lectures and activities. Advance Tickets to the Makana Concert on sale at the Honolulu Box Office $12.00 or at the door $15.00

The Oahu Healing Garden Festival is August 25, the Maui Healing Garden is Oct 6, and the BIg Island is Nov 2-4th.
